TMG Leads ITU Workshop on Dispute Resolution and Competition Law in the Telecommunications Sector in Dominica


The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) selected TMG to lead a three-day workshop in Roseau, Dominica. The workshop, held from April 22 to 24, 2014, was attended by participants from both regulatory authorities and the private sector throughout the Caribbean, including the Bahamas, Barbados, Dominica, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago. The workshop addressed the legal frameworks and various mechanisms to resolving disputes, focusing on alternative dispute resolution processes. The workshop also detailed the main types of competition issues that arise in the telecommunications sector, providing the methodologies used to analyze such conduct and the remedies to address anti-competitive conduct. Mr. Daniel Leza, TMG’s Vice President for Legal and Regulatory, spoke on competition law and Ms. Kari Ballot-Lena, Policy and Regulatory Advisor for TMG, addressed dispute resolution.
