TMG is pleased to announce its selection to assist the World Bank in advising the Government of Myanmar with certain regulatory reforms in the telecommunications sector. The World Bank-funded project is part of a broad effort by the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to increase access to affordable, high-quality telecommunication services and develop an information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure that will facilitate inclusive growth and poverty reduction.
As advisor to the World Bank, TMG will assist in developing a draft operational roadmap for the telecommunications sector, including advising on changes to the government’s operational role in the sector and the possible transition of the PTD to an independent regulatory institution. The project also includes advising on best practices in sector regulation on competition, licensing, access, numbering, tariffs, and spectrum management.
“TMG is honored to have been selected for this project and looks forward to working closely with the World Bank and the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to develop telecommunications sector policy guidance and a regulatory environment that will enhance development throughout Myanmar’s economy,” said Janet Hernandez, President of TMG and project manager for the project.
