TMG selected to provide Central America spectrum management recommendations

Arlington, VA – TMG was selected by the World Bank to provide recommendations on spectrum management policy and regulatory and institutional frameworks to selected Central American countries. The project aims to foster mobile (IMT) network deployment and improved quality of service. TMG will begin with a high-level review of the mobile spectrum management policy, regulations, and processes in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. This will include a comparison of best practices in spectrum management models and their relevance for IMT spectrum assignment and 5G deployment. In addition, TMG will develop three country case studies covering both demand- and supply-side factors affecting IMT spectrum management tasks in the region. This deep-dive analysis will be accompanied by recommendations for more efficiently managing IMT spectrum.

As a key component of the project, TMG will conduct interviews with key stakeholders to validate and complement information obtained from desk-study work. TMG will engage with key stakeholders in each relevant country, including regulatory authorities and relevant market players. The final output of the project will present the main considerations of the report, the key findings and recommendations, and a summary of stakeholders’ inputs.
